Canton Chooses NEXEDGE®

(Suwanee, Ga.) Kenwood USA Corp., Communications Sector, reports that a NEXEDGE® system has been purchased by the city of Canton, Ga., for its fire and police departments. The system will include mobiles, portables, repeaters and base stations on what will ultimately be a multi-site system. The NXDN multi-site system will allow the city to scan other VHF analog frequencies and still monitor their digital system traffic.

Kenwood digital repeaters allow users to utilize both analog and digital radios over the same repeater. This feature allows greater interoperability between outside agencies over other digital technologies on the market.  Coverage enhancements achieved by just one NXDN repeater would allow the city to eliminate all three satellite receiver sites and their associated costs. Canton chose to deploy three dual channel NXDN sites to give them optimum in building coverage as well as redundancy. The system can be upgraded to NEXEDGE trunking easily anytime in the future.

“Kenwood NEXEDGE comes closer to providing P25 security, features and capability than any other digital product on the market.” according to Steve Keller of Radio One,, the Kenwood dealer that sold the system to Canton.
